Eastern Coach Education

The first Coach Education Day of 2012 was held this Sunday at BATTS with 20 coaches from around the Eastern Region attending. With practical and theoretical elements to the day the morning got off to a good start with Mark Dare delivering an excellent presentation on Analysing & Correcting Faults (Part 2) which included group discussions and which followed on from the last Coach Education session. Mark was also under pressure as he was being assessed for his tutoring qualification which he passed with flying colours.

Stephen Gertsen then went on to facilitate a presentation and group discussion on Coaching Philosophy where he emphasised the importance of knowing what our philosophy on coaching is and encouraged the group to individually create their own coaching philosophy. Something that hasn’t been tried at a Eastern Coach Education day before but the discussions that were taking place were very encouraging and maybe a eye opener to some coaches.
After lunch we moved onto Advance Strokes, which included a presentation by Stephen, group discussion and practical demonstration and group work in the hall. We ended the day just recapping on things we had learnt and then had an open question time.
Overall a really productive day and with so many coaches attending it was brilliant to see so many ideas shared with the group and coaches helping each other out. Thanks for your support!
Coaches Corner
As always the Eastern regional training sessions are open for coaches to attend. We strongly believe that watching experienced coaches run sessions is a great way to improve your coaching and learn from different delivery styles and techniques.
You will have the chance to view the Eastern sessions and possibly take charge of a group of players yourself to see the innovations and exercises performed at regional level. Some of the sessions will be mixed abilities and some will be a higher standard and the dates can be seen below:
28th January: Under 13s Regional Training at BATTS Harlow 10am-3pm
29th January: A squad at St Neots and B squad at BATTS 10am-3pm
11th February: Brittannia traning camp
12th February: Under 13s camp at St Neots (10am-3pm), A and B camp at BATTS (12.15-5.15)
13th February: Under 13s camp at St Neots (10am-3pm), A and B camp at BATTS (11.30-4.30)
14th February: A and B camp at BATTS (12.30pm-5pm)
