South and South West Coach Education and Training Day

On Sunday, Waterside TTC, Southampton hosted a fantastic ‘new initiative’, with the joining together of the South and South-West’s Coach Education Day with their top young players monthly regional training.
In the morning Alison Broe, Paul Whiting and Rowden Fullen shared their expertise on three main topics:-, defensive table tennis, effective coaching of girls and cornering in competitions.
With England’s Matt Ware also attending, the fascinating input and up to date coaching methods really did enthuse and inspire the coaches.
Following lunch, thirty six members of South and South West Regional Squad arrived. They were met by over a dozen coaches and sparrers keen to put them through their paces. With sessions focussing on physical development, variations in match play, effective returning of serve and a number of multi- ball stations they certainly succeeded!

Hopefully this new format can be a regular fixture in the yearly calendar.
